Norfolk deputy fire chief released from hospital

NORFOLK, Mass. — Norfolk's deputy fire chief was released from the hospital Thursday after undergoing surgery for an injury he suffered while battling a fire in Lawrence.

Deputy Fire Chief Peter Petruchik underwent surgery Tuesday at Massachusetts General Hospital to repair his broken arm.

Norfolk Fire Chief Coleman Bushnell told Boston 25 News Petruchik was released from the hospital late Thursday morning and is resting.

Petruchik was part of a task force providing mutual aid in Lawrence on September 16 following the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. Norfolk firefighters helped extinguish a three-alarm fire during their deployment. While battling the flames, Petruchik partially went through a floor in the home and broke his arm. He received immediate treatment at Lawrence General Hospital.
