NH coach arrested on sexual assault charge

HOOKSETT, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A coach was arrested Friday after allegedly sexually assaulting a minor.

In October, Hooksett Police began investigating a report of a sexual assault between 23-year-old Cameron Beaton and a child. The crime allegedly occurred at the gym where he worked, USA Ninja Challenge, about three weeks ago. Beaton turned himself in on Friday and has been placed on leave.

“This case was fast moving and we want the public to be aware that this incident appears to be isolated to this location,” Chief Bartlett said.

Beaton, from Epsom, was charged with one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault and was released of $4,000 personal recognizance bail. He is prohibited from working or volunteering with any children.

The owner of the gym, RIchard Knight, was stunned, according to a spokesperson.

"The instructor in question spoke with police and we had no indication charges would be filed so as we stand here today we are very very surprised," he said.

He went on to say, "A student was attempting to make a move on a rock climbing wall and the instructor reached out to assist because he thought she was falling."

USA Ninja Challenge says Beaton has worked for them since February, that he passed a background check and also taught safety measures when dealing with children.

“We are shocked because there are many protocols in place to prevent any kind of inappropriate physical activity," he said,
Beaton's family would not go on camera, but say the charges are bogus.
