New Hampshire State Troopers deliver baby on highway

BEDFORD, N.H. — For the second time in less than two weeks, New Hampshire State Police helped bring a newborn into the world, according to a release from the department.

On Friday at 8:08 p.m., Bedford, New Hampshire, troopers, fire and rescue members were called by 911 to a woman in labor on the Everett Turnpike northbound at mile 18.4.

State Trooper Mark Dore arrived as the baby was being born roadside and he guided the father through the successful delivery. Shortly after, Trooper Brad Pierson and the Bedford Fire Department arrived to assist on scene.

Christine and George D’Amelio, who is a Massachusetts State Trooper, were en route from their home in Tyngsborough to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, when Christine went into labor.

George pulled over just north of the Bedford tolls where officials helped deliver their son Jackson, who was born almost immediately.

Mom, Dad and Jackson were brought by ambulance to the Catholic Medical Center and all are doing well.
