MSP trooper dishonorably discharged after allegedly giving false statements

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was dishonorably discharged after being charged with providing untruthful information to the department, police say.

Leigha Genduso sustained multiple charges last week after an internal investigation from the department, which led to the department beginning their termination process against her.

While the process was going on, Genduso resigned from the department, leading to the dishonorable discharge as a result of the findings.

The investigation showed Genduso didn't disclose her past involvement in a drug dealing operation while making statements to Massachusetts State Police, instead making "demonstrably false statements" on her application.

The department recently made a new checklist in their background check process to include questions about any involvement in any criminal investigation, even if the person didn't get charged with a crime.
