Julia Fernandez, 72, was found murdered in her home on Columbus Avenue with obvious trauma, police explained.
"She was found to have been bludgeoned about the head. At this time we believe the murder weapon was a fireplace log," Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said.

Danny Lopes, Jr., 34, was arrested Monday morning and police say he was the only suspect in the case.
Lopes lived at the home where the woman was found dead and a warrant was issued Sunday evening for his arrest. He was arrested in Providence, Rhode Island but will be extradited to Massachusetts.
Fernandez was a long-time girlfriend of Lopes's late father, Daniel Lopes Sr., who died in 2003.
