Motorcyclist, 58, seriously injured in Chelsea crash

CHELSEA (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 58-year-old Peabody man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash that occurred on the northbound side of Route 1 at the Sixth Street ramp in Chelsea on Monday.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the two vehicle crash around 4:35 p.m. on Monday.

The motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Route 1 at the Sixth Street ramp when he lost control and crashed into an SUV.   The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Mass General Hospital in Boston.

The 35-year-old male operator of the SUV and his 23-year-old passenger were uninjured in the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicated that speed and erratic operation by the motorcyclist played a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
