Mom accused of stabbing young sons to death to appear before judge

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton mother will face a judge Tuesday as investigators try and determine what drove her to stab her two young sons to death.

Just after noon Monday, Brockton police received a 911 call for a medical emergency at 247 Prospect St.

First responders arrived at the home and located the 8-year-old and 5-year-old brothers dead from multiple stab wounds.

Their names have not yet been released, but police said their mother, Latarsha L. Sanders, 43, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

Neighbors said Sanders was taken away in an ambulance screaming, but eventually ended up being taken to the police department.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said Sanders made statements to investigators that could be construed as admissions to the “disturbing and gruesome” crime.

“Sometimes people take things out on their kids because they’re mad at their husband or girlfriend or this or that,” neighbor William Glass said. “You can’t do that. You can’t do that.”

Investigators said the killings took place within the past few days and are trying to figure out a motive.

“You never know what people are going through,” Sherrie Alaboh said. “Maybe she needed help and didn’t know where to turn, or just gave up.”

Sanders will be arraigned on two counts of murder Tuesday morning in Brockton District Court.
