POSITION SUMMARY
The Master Control Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of operators in addition to being a working Master Control Operator executing playback of programming and commercials through ITX Automation. The Master Control Supervisor is also responsible for the oversight of multiple television stations at one time including signal monitoring, Transmitter remote control operation and FCC compliance logging.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a team that includes managing and setting schedules to assure 24/7 coverage of Master Control, approval and reporting of hours worked for staff, managing PTO requests to assure 24/7 coverage
- Proper operation of all program channels to ensure continued and seamless program delivery
- Observation of all video pictures and audio signals for quality and standards compliance
- Monitoring and Operating transmitter remote control systems
- Satellite and distributor-based file recordings and preparation for automation playback
- Consultation with Programming/Traffic departments and/or Operations management representatives when scheduled programs are not available for broadcast, or when live events require a change in program schedule
- Clear and concise documentation of problems and discrepancies
- Recording and ingesting of commercials and programs
- Coordination with various production personnel during live shows
- Previewing playlists to ensure all assets are ready for broadcast as scheduled
- Managing on-air logs, automation playlists, and server-based computer systems
- Submitting discrepancy reports regarding scheduling, traffic and on-air irregularities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Communications preferred
- Five years experience in a similar role preferably in a television newsroom
- Experience managing others preferred
- General knowledge of FCC and EAS rules and regulations
- Experience with basic digital TV systems and monitoring equipment
- Experience operating television automation record and playback and video server systems
- Must be a team player able to communicate with other operators, management, and station personnel
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision on a regular basis
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes overnights, weekends, and holidays
