This is the top Christmas movie in Massachusetts, according to survey

What better way to get in the holiday spirit by cozying up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and a Christmas movie?

House Method asked 4,500 people across the United States to pick their favorite Christmas movie.

The survey found “Elf” was the favorite in Massachusetts, while people in New Hampshire chose the classic “A Christmas Story.”

The survey’s authors were surprised to find “Elf” was the top choice in Indiana, considering “A Christmas Story” takes place in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana.

“A Christmas Story” isn’t lacking in fans though. The classic film was the most popular Christmas movie in 24 states.

“Elf” came in second with 11 states. Other picks included “Home Alone,” “It’s a Wonderful Life," “Die Hard,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Christmas Vacation,” “Miracle on 34th Street” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

The survey’s participants were also asked if “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie. Nationally, 59% said no, while 41% said yes. The results in Massachusetts mirrored the national results, with 62% of people surveyed saying “Die Hard” is not a Christmas movie.
