The boyfriend of a Woburn woman found dead in Saugus appeared in court

BOSTON — The boyfriend of a slain woman found in Saugus appeared in court. Bruce Maiben is accused of tampering with evidence and interfering with the investigation into the death of his girlfriend, Sherell Pringle.

Pringle’s body was found along the side of a road in Saugus days after she went missing. His case was continued until next week - and Pringle’s family made it clear they want justice quicker. “Never mind him. She’s gone. Before Christmas,” a woman yelled in court.

Pringle was reported missing by her son in Woburn and Lynn and the family contends police did not take the report seriously.  The family says they located Pringle’s phone in a storm drain in Lynn using the “find my phone” app. People helping the family search for Pringle then found her body along the Lynn Way.

25 Investigates has learned Pringle was stabbed dozens of times.

Pringle’s mother was escorted out by family who did not want to comment about the case.

A cousin, who identified himself as Glen, said the family is struggling with what happened.  “That is my cousin and she is just beautiful. That’s it. She is my cousin and she is beautiful,” Glen said, “It’s sad, but I got to here for my family. It’s sad. He has to pay, he has to pay. He did what he did he has to pay”.

Maiben apparently dated Pringle for a few months before Pringle went missing. Maiben is not charged with her murder.

The defense attorney says there is no evidence supporting he is responsible. “He did not kill his girlfriend, he is denying that,” the defense attorney said, “he is denying it, absolutely. There are no facts that support he did it”.

Maiben will be back in Lynn District Court on Tuesday for a dangerousness hearing.
