Mass. gaming weighs reopening casino bid process for Brockton fairgrounds

Cathy Judd-Stein was appointed in January to lead the commission that regulates the casino and horse racing industries in the state.

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will decide Thursday whether to re-open a bidding process for a casino in the southeastern part of the state.

Mass. Gaming and Entertainment filed a proposal a few years ago for a casino on the Brockton fairgrounds.

They canceled it in 2016, saying it lacked the quality the commission was looking for.

But last summer, they asked the committee to reconsider their proposal.

The gaming commission says to be fair, it has to open up the proposal process to everyone.

The commission will meet today to discuss the idea.
