Long-time public servant appointed Mass. Gaming Commissioner

BOSTON — An ethics lawyer who has served as an advisor to six governors is the new chairwoman of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Cathy Judd-Stein was appointed yesterday to lead the commission that regulates the casino and horse racing industries in the state.

"As my role shifts from advisor to chair, I am honored to continue serving the public," she said at a news conference Tuesday.

Stein succeeds former Chairman Stephen Crosby who stepped down last year amid claims of bias toward Wynn Casino and a lawsuit from Suffolk Downs.
