Man dead after being shot on Canal Street, two people charged

BOSTON — A man died after being shot early Saturday morning on Canal Street in Boston.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Boston Police responded to 101 Canal Street where they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was brought to a local hospital where he died.

Police saw the suspect car flee the scene, stopped the driver at the intersection of Canal and Causeway Street, and found a firearm inside. They arrested two young men.

Bryan Rice, 22, of Boston, was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and attempted armed robbery. Anthony Baptista-Goncalves, 24, of Boston, was charged with accessory before and after the fact to commit: murder and attempted armed robbery.

Both men are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
