Man arrested in shooting behind Mass. Ave. MBTA station

BOSTON — A suspect in a Wednesday night shooting behind the Mass. Ave. MBTA station was arrested by Boston Police after he was found hiding near the scene, police say.

A 34-year-old man was shot multiple times shortly before 10 p.m. at the Southwest Corridor Park, according to a State Police news release. The man is in serious condition at a Boston Hospital.

Police said the suspect, Lishuan Gay, 26 was found in a courtyard near Columbus Avenue and Dilworth Streets, along with a backpack that had a loaded 9mm pistol.

MSP says Crime Scene Troopers reviewed surveillance footage and physical evidence, along with witness interviews, from the scene of the shooting and the area where the suspect was apprehended.

Gay was arrested and transported to State Police-Boston where he was held on a charge of assault with intent to murder and possible additional charges, according to police. He is due in court on September 19.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
