Man arrested for armed home invasion

WAREHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - Police arrested a man who allegedly entering an apartment with a sawed off shotgun and demanding cash.

Police said Friday evening, a man entered an apartment in the Brandy Hill Apartments complex and demanded cash from the three adults inside. He was holding a sawed off shotgun, but two of the male residents wrestled the weapon away from the intruder, said police. The man was not wearing and the three occupants knew him by first name only.

After the man left, it was noticed the shotgun wasn't loaded; police later recovered it as evidence.

Within two hours, officers found the suspect, 26-year-old John Peckham, in his resident in East Wareham on Tyler Avenue and arrested him.

Peckham was charged with armed home invasion, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a sawed off shotgun and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. He will be arraigned on the charges on Monday.
