WEYMOUTH, Mass. — One school bus driver was hospitalized for minor injuries after two school busses collided on Route 3 South in Weymouth, according to officials.

A spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police said two Dennis-Yarmouth Public School buses were involved in the crash, which is reported as minor in nature.

MassDOT tweeted just after 3 p.m. that the left lane on Route 3 south had closed near Mile Marker 38 due to a crash. Officials have since updated around 4 p.m. that all lanes are reopened.

The state police spokesperson confirmed there were students on board the buses, but he did not have a number or age range for those children.

Emergency medical services personnel were requested for reports of very minor and precautionary injuries.

One of the bus drivers, a 59-year-old Dennisport woman, requested to be taken to a hospital while the driver of the other bus, a 61-year-old East Dennis man, was not injured in the crash, according to the state police spokesperson.

One of the buses was towed from the scene.
