Third $1 million prize won in Massachusetts claimed by Waltham man

DORCHESTER, Ma. — The third $1 million Powerball prize awarded in Massachusetts on July 19 was won by Brendan Stewart, from Waltham. He collected his prize in Dorchester at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters on Thursday.

Stewart said he plans to buy a new smartwatch with his winnings.

He purchased a Quic Pic ticket at the Global Motello/Gulf in Waltham. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

This is the third $1 million prize won in the July 19 drawing in Massachusetts. Jan Bushby of Norfolk and Rae Ann Wentwoth-Cadieux of Hadley also received $1 million before taxes. The $1.08 billion jackpot was won in California.

This Saturday’s Powerball drawing has an estimated jackpot of $60 million.
