FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Upset Taylor Swift fans hopefully have calmed down and are ready to try to buy tickets again today for her concert. Ticketmaster’s website appeared to have crashed during Tuesday morning’s presale and fans voiced their frustrations on social media.
What made it particularly frustrating for fans is the presale system was supposed to ensure a smoother experience that didn’t involve bots and scalpers scooping up the coveted tickets. Instead, it was a day-long wait and frustration.
Fans today will get a second chance when there’s a pre-sale for capital one card holders. Yesterday’s presale was for fans who received special access codes. Despite that many were stuck in online queues for hours and others said when they finally got through, the website would crash before they could check out.
Ticketmaster called it an unprecedented demand.
Boston 25 news talked to an attorney who said despite the widespread internet issues, Ticketmaster makes it very clear that there are no guarantees with presales.
“There might be a claim for negligent infliction of emotional distress from the videos I’ve seen of people crying, getting upset about this,” said attorney Matt Cameron. “But no I don’t think there’s even really a class action, I think it would be pretty frivolous. I understand the impulse that something should be done. I think my best legal advice is to shake it off, I don’t think this is going to get too far.”
The Capitol One presale that was supposed to happen yesterday has been pushed back to today at 2 pm. Ticketmaster is promising customers who have a code for today’s presale that will work. If you didn’t register for a presale option, Friday is when the general public can log on and try and get into the show.
