Police: Man wanted for separate sexual assault and robbery incidents in South Boston

BOSTON — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a man they say is wanted for sexual assault and robbery in South Boston over the past few weeks.

Boston Police say the suspect is believed to be a black male, between 20 and 30 years of age, wearing a dark-colored leather jacket and dark pants.

The sexual assault occurred on September 29th at 2:46 p.m. at the intersection of E Street and West 4th Street, according to law enforcement officials.

The robbery occurred on October 4th around 8:30 p.m. at 506 E Sixth Street. During this incident, police say the suspect followed a female victim from a convenience store at K Street and E 7th Street before attacking her from behind. He then punched the victim in the face and brandished a knife before fleeing towards H Street, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

As a reminder, Boston Police are providing the following tips to ensure personal safety at night:

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Keep your head up. Make quick eye contact with those around you, and try to avoid poorly lit or isolated areas when possible.
  • When possible, walk with friends and people you know, especially late at night.
  • Avoid the distractions created when talking on a cell phone or listening to an iPod/similar device. Avoid wearing earbuds or headphones in both ears.
  • If you believe someone is following you, change direction, cross the street, seek a populated location and call 911.
