Shrewsbury man arrested in sting operation, accused of wanting to meet minor for sex

SUTTON, Mass. — A Shrewsbury man is facing charges after being arrested as part of a sting operation aiming to target child sexual predators.

Rizwan Baig, 45, of Shrewsbury was arrested after agreeing to meet at an undisclosed location in Sutton with an undercover Massachusetts State Police trooper.

Baig was arrested without incident and taken to the Sutton Police Department where he was released on bail pending his arraignment in Uxbridge District Court

on Thursday.

“Numerous members of the Sutton Police Department, MA State Police and Blackstone Valley DrugTask Force participated in this operation, and we will continue to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to target high-risk offenders,” Sutton police shared on Facebook.

Baig was scheduled to be arraigned in Uxbridge District Court Thursday on charges of sexual conduct for a fee with a child, enticement of a child under the age of 16 and attempt to commit a crime (attempted rape of a child.)
