NOW PLAYING ABOVE

The great debate: to refrigerate ketchup or not to refrigerate it.

On Tuesday, Heinz’s United Kingdom account tweeted the company’s stance on the debate, generating thousands of comments and reactions from condiment enthusiasts with differing takes on the topic.

In the tweet, Heinz stated, “FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. fridge!!!”

Heinz’s followers were quick to react to the idea of refrigerating ketchup, with one person writing, “In the cupboard. Same as restaurants. Same as supermarkets. People who use the fridge have issues.” Another Twitter user added, “If it was meant to be in the fridge, they’d put it there at supermarkets.”

There were many others who supported the move to refrigerate the condiment, with one person saying, “People keep it out of the fridge? *gasp*” Another response said, “Of course it does. After opening. Is this controversial?”

To settle the debate, Heinz later posted a poll that showed overwhelming support for refrigerating ketchup.
