Shooting death of Virginia man in Maine ruled a homicide, state police say

EDGECOMB, Maine — A homicide investigation is underway after a Virginia man was found shot to death in Maine, state police said.

William Nathaniel Robinson, 34, of Austinville, Virginia, was found dead near the Schmid Land Preserve on Old County Road in Edgecomb last Tuesday, state police said.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta has determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Robinson had been recently staying at a home in Edgecomb, state police said.

Authorities said there is no known danger to the public at this time.

Edgecomb is a small town north of Boothbay Harbor and south of Waterville. The town’s population was 1,188 at the 2020 census.
