CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — A shelter-in-place has been lifted and two people are in custody after reports of a person with a gun on Harvard University’s campus.
University Police and Cambridge Police were called to campus around 3:30 Thursday afternoon for a report of a man with a gun. A suspect reportedly lifted his shirt and showed a gun that was in his waistband to two men following an argument.
Officials found the suspect, 28-year-old Chayanne Valazquez of Dorchester, nearby and took him into custody. A second suspect, 25-year-old Stephanie Ford of Lynn, was also arrested after a gun was found inside her backpack.
Valazquez is facing assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm without a license charges. Ford is charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
No additional information was released.
