Police: Stow officer improperly accessed records, criminal complaint sought (Stow Police)

STOW, Mass. — The Stow Police Department has filed a criminal complaint against one of its own.

A Worcester County resident reached out to police on June 18 and alleged that Officer Jason Rogers had used departmental and state systems to access personal information.

After Rogers was placed on administrative leave, an internal affairs investigation found that he attempted to obtain information related to the complainant multiple times in 2024 and 2025, according to the Stow Police Department.

“This included five instances in which the officer accessed the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS); accessing such information for non-policing purposes is prohibited,” Stow police said in a statement.

Stow police formally filed the criminal complaint on Friday and a clerk magistrate will determine if there is enough evidence to support criminal charges at a later date.

Stow police say the investigation also found that Rogers’ actions constituted multiple violations of departmental policy, as well as conduct unbecoming of an officer.

The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST), the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services have all been informed of the Stow Police Department’s investigation.

Stow police say there will be an employee status hearing with the Town of Stow Select Board at a later date as well.
