Police investigating deadly early morning crash on the MassPike involving a tractor-trailer

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — An investigation is underway following a fatal crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Framingham early Friday morning, according to State Police.

Emergency crews responded to the westbound side of the highway near the Grove Street overpass just before 2:45 a.m. where they found a 2020 red Mini Cooper wedged under the back of a tractor-trailer.

The operator of the car, a 29-year-old Worcester woman, had struck the trailer being pulled by the truck, state police said.

The woman was determined to be deceased on the scene and there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

A Preliminary investigation reveals that the Mini Cooper was possibly speeding prior to rear-ending the tractor-trailer but no other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. There is no further information available at this time
