Police identify 19 UNH students who have been arrested in fraternity hazing incident

DURHAM, N.H. — Durham police said they have made 19 more arrests in connection with a hazing investigation into the ‘Sigma Alpha Epsilon’ fraternity at the University of New Hampshire.

Ten fraternity members were arrested Friday, June 10, and additional arrests were made on Tuesday afternoon. However, police say more arrests are anticipated to be made in the following days and weeks.

Police launched the investigation after an event at the fraternity on April 13. Forty-six arrest warrants were issued for members of the organization.

Some of the students, who face hazing charges, names were released:

  • Benjamin Chase, Hampton, NH - Age 18,
  • Robert Doherty, Wolfeboro, NH - Age 19,
  • Daniel Fachiol, Hampden, ME - Age 21,
  • Charles Farrah, Grafton, MA - Age 20,
  • Robert Hardy, Atkinson, NH - Age 21,
  • Oliver Jacques, Auburn, ME - Age 19
  • Gabriel Kwan, Winchester, MA - Age 21
  • Mason Steele, Williston, VT - Age 19
  • Colby Travis, Pelham, NH - Age 19
  • Brendan Akpan, Springfield, NH - Age 21
  • Nikolaos Beka, Shrewsbury, MA - Age 19
  • Nikolas Boruvka, Westwood, MA - Age 20
  • Joseph Cleary, Plymouth, NH - Age 20
  • Jason Crocker, Malden, MA - Age 19
  • Anthony Gionta, Baldwin Place, NY - Age 19
  • Tucker Guard, Marion, MA - Age 20
  • Charlie Kavanagh, Sudbury, MA - Age 19

They all will be arraigned at the 7th Circuit Court: Dover District Division, on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

In addition to the individual misdemeanor charges, the chapter was also charged with ‘student hazing by an institution.’

Student hazing is a misdemeanor charge punishable by up to a $1,200 fine for individuals and $20,000 for organizations.
