ABINGTON, Mass. — A 35-year-old woman from Boston has died after being hit by a truck in Abington on Tuesday night.
Marissa Voller was walking along Route 18 at approximately 7:07 p.m. when she was struck by a pickup truck. First responders observed her in the roadway and began rendering aid.
She was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
It appears Voller was walking in the left travel lane at the time of the accident, and visibility was low, according to a preliminary investigation. Misty weather was also a factor.
The investigation is ongoing by Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and Abington Police.
The male driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and called 911. It is unknown if he will face any charges.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
