Man dies after being struck by car on Plainville highway

WRENTHAM, Mass. — Authorities responded to a deadly pedestrian accident on a busy Plainville highway Saturday morning.

State Police say a 41-year-old Halifax man was walking north in the northbound lane of Route 495 just north of the Plainville exit around 5:15 a.m. when a Volvo SUV struck and killed him.

The driver of the Volvo was uninjured and stayed on scene.

Police began investigating and closed the two left lanes of 495N until 7:30 a.m. Authorities say they found a car registered to the victim a short distance from the crash scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
