Man to buy a house after winning big on Mega Millions ticket purchased at Boston store

BOSTON — A man says he plans to buy a house after he won a $1 million prize on a Mega Millions ticket that he purchased at a store in Boston.

Melvin McKenzie matched the first five numbers in the multi-state game’s drawing on April 14, according to the Massachusetts Lottery Commission.

McKenzie claimed his prize Tuesday and received a one-time payment of $1,000,000 (before taxes).

His winning ticket was purchased at Quick Pick Convenience at 973 Tremont Street. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for the sale of this ticket.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states. Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
