AUGUST, Maine — If you’re planning a family camping trip to Maine this summer, you may want to book that reservation sooner, rather than later.
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry says the trend of record-breaking visitors to state parks appears to be continuing.
Registration for family camping opened on Monday, and 5,469 outdoor enthusiasts made reservations for 2022.
The state says that’s a 26 percent increase in opening day reservations compared to 2021.
Details on booking a reservation for all 12 of the Maine State Park Family Camping sites can be found here.
There is no increase in the fee for registering for 2022, according to the state. Family camping sites are for one family or groups of 6 or fewer people.
The state says pets are allowed at all campgrounds except Sebago Lake State Park Campground and they must be kept on a leash under the physical control of the handler and must not be left unattended.
