Hundreds of Revere high school students, former students, and locals joined in on the Black Lives Matters Revere march.
“Students of color either miss out on opportunities or are not supported in enough,” said Dania Hallak, one of the organizers.
Dania Hallak is one of the organizers, and is a senior at Revere High School. The 18 year old says, she’s faced discrimination because of her head covering, known as a hijab.
“I hope like being here, wearing the hijab can address colorism that happens in my own community,” said Hallak.
The crowd marched through the streets of Revere, and stopped in front of St. Anthony’s of Padua and kneeled in honor of George Floyd.
“We are trying to make a difference and bring justice to these names,” said Adejoke Atitebi of Revere.
As they kept marching through the streets, onlookers cheered the young crowd.

The final stop was in front of Revere City Hall, and everyone kneeled for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, in honor of Floyd, who was buried in his hometown of Houston. Revere police chief James Guido joined in.
“Malini: any changes coming to your police dept? I have been sending people to de-escalation training,” said Revere Police Chief James Guido.
As the night came to an end, prayers were said from different religions.
During the protest, people were allowed to go up in front of city hall, and speak about racism they have faced. In the end so many people here had the same message to send, they just want solidarity and change.
