GoFundMe page raising money to help couple seriously injured in Natick hit-and-run crash

NATICK, Mass. — The public is rallying around a wife and husband who were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash as they walked along a Natick street earlier this week.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Kimberly Gunner, 51, and Andy Colbert, 39, a Natick couple who were out for an evening stroll on Tuesday night when a pickup truck jumped the curb and struck both of them, and pushed them into a wooden fence.

Wendy Catlin, a cousin of the victims who is organizing the fundraiser to help the couple, wrote that Kimberly suffered extensive injuries when the fence impaled her through the chest.

While fleeing from the scene, the driver, who has not been identified, then “backed over Kimberly, crushing both of her legs, and took off at a high rate of speed,” Catlin wrote.

Both victims were flown to nearby trauma centers. Kimberly suffered serious leg injuries and may require a prosthetic leg, Catlin wrote.

Natick Police have found the vehicle they believe to have been involved in the hit-and-run car crash. Police Chief James Hicks said they impounded the blue pickup truck Wednesday morning.

Police are still working to make an arrest but said they do have a person of interest. The Middlesex District Attorney and the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section are also investigating.

Meanwhile, Catlin described the Natick couple, who married within the last year, as “very much in love.”

“They had also saved enough money together from both their jobs that they were able to purchase a modest home, also in Natick,” Catlin wrote. “What Kimberly and Andy need now is time to heal without the stress of financial burdens such as unreimbursed medical expenses."

As of 11:15 p.m. Friday, the GoFundMe page had raised $45,330 out of its $100,000 goal.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Natick Police.
