EVERETT, Mass. — It took first responders nearly three hours Thursday to free a worker who got stuck in a large industrial machine.
The accident happened at Scrap It, a large junkyard and recycling business on Second St. Fire and medical personnel worked for hours on top of a large metal shredder to free the man. He was then rushed to a local hospital.
“As far as I know, yes he’s alive,” Deputy Fire Chief Sabato Lorusso said. “I can’t really comment on the details because it’s under investigation.”
It’s unclear what caused the accident or what part of the worker became trapped. No one from the company made themselves available for comment.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it is investigating.
