IPSWICH. Mass. — A box truck driver was injured after striking a utility pole in Ipswich on Thursday morning. The force of the crash caused the truck to rollover, leaving the driver partially pinned under the cab.
The crash happened at approximately 10:10 a.m. in the area of 34 High Street. A 37-year-old Methuen man was driving a 2013 Isuzu box truck when he struck a utility pole, breaking it in half.
It is unclear if speed or the weather played a factor, but the driver was partially ejected from the truck. First responders worked to free him from the wreckage.
The man was transported to Beverly Hospital and then taken to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington for treatment of his injuries.
His condition is unknown at this time. There were no other injuries reported.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area while crews conduct accident reconstruction.
The crash is under investigation by the Ipswich Police Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
