FOXBORO — Ed Sheeran has set a new single-show attendance record at Gillette Stadium after his Saturday, July 1 performance.
The stadium had a venue record of 71,723 in attendance. Sheeran’s Saturday show bested the previous mark that had stood since the U2 360° Tour on Sept. 20, 2009.
The multiple Grammy Award-winning, superstar returned to Gillette Stadium as part of his ‘The Mathematics Tour’. Giliette is the first NFL stadium he ever headlined, for the sixth and seventh times overall this Friday, June 30, and Saturday, July 1.
Before the show, Sheeran dropped in at a recital at the Tobin Community Center for a surprise collaboration with the Boston Music Project. According to Kiss 108, the children had no idea that Sheeran would be coming to share the stage.
