DUDLEY, Mass. — Police are searching for suspects who allegedly were involved in a home invasion on Green Street in Dudley that left one man shot.
The Dudley Police Department told Boston 25 at approximately midnight on Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim. They were offered assistance from the Dudley Fire Department and EMS personnel.
Upon arrival, emergency responders were able to treat a 26-year-old male resident who was suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was then transported by Dudley Ambulance to Worcester’s UMass Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
Officials received reports that indicated multiple suspects forced their way into the first-floor apartment and confronted the male victim.
During the incident, there was a female resident and two children present. Police confirmed there was no one else injured.
Shortly after the shooting, the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police added that they believe this was not a random act.
The Massachusetts State Police, along with members from the Dudley, Webster, and Oxford Police Departments, are assisting with the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
