Derek Jeter not a fan of David Ortiz’s gifted Red Sox jersey

The rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox doesn’t stop at the foul lines. It apparently lasts until the broadcasting studio.

After duking it on the diamond for years, Red Sox legend David Ortiz and longtime Yankee Captain Derek Jeter were reunited as part of FOX’s coverage of the London Series between the St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. This is the first year Derek Jeter has been a part of FOX’s baseball coverage. And like any great teammate, Ortiz gave him a present to welcome him.

After opening the box, Jeter unfurled a Red Sox jersey with his famed No.2 and his name on the back. The Hall of Famer promptly tossed the jersey to the side like it was a ball and Jeremy Giambi was streaking to home plate.

“Come on, man,” Ortiz exclaimed. “That’s a gift!”

While Ortiz descended into hysterics, Jeter made his farewell speech statement to his coworkers and bullies.

“It’s been a great time spending it with you guys here,” said Jeter. “You won’t see me anymore. It’s my last day at FOX.”

Maybe Jeter just knows what happens when you don your rival’s gear.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
