Milton deadly crash

QUINCY, Mass. — An arrest has been made in connection with an investigation into a crash in Milton last year that left a man dead and a child seriously injured, prosecutors announced Thursday.

Manuel Afonseca, 41, of Boston, is expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on charges stemming from a multi-car crash in the area of Blue Hill Avenue back in March 2022, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

Michael McGrath, 56, of Milton, died from injuries he suffered in the wreck. A juvenile who was riding in his Chevrolet Silverado was seriously hurt and had to undergo surgery at an area hospital.

Afonseca, who was operating an Infiniti Q50, was hospitalized with critical injuries following the crash.

Evidence uncovered over the course of the monthslong investigation led to his arrest.

There were no additional details immediately available.

More information is expected to be released when Afonseca appears in court Thursday afternoon.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
