Community supports local florist after hundreds of dollars of flowers stolen before Valentine’s Day

DEDHAM, Mass. — Hundreds of dollars in flowers were stolen from a local Florist right before Valentine’s Day

Hundreds of dollars in flowers were allegedly stolen from Courtyard Florist in Dedham right before Valentine’s Day. Now the community is rallying around the business owner to help her recoup her losses.

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like flowers to give to that special someone. Just as hectic as the lover’s holiday, was the day before with owner, Amanda Jackson making all those last-minute flower arrangements.

“It was just very busy in here it was just the two of us running around trying to take care of customers,” says Jackson.

After taking a trip downstairs to her basement, she came back up and noticed things were missing.

“I asked my coworker if she had sold them, and she said no,” says Jackson.

Jackson says someone stole $300 worth of flowers and some teddy bears.

“It feels like I was broken into. It has that type of feeling. I just felt that I hoped they would get dumped on Valentine’s Day,” says Jackson.

She posted her frustration on the Nextdoor App. Since then, the community has stepped up to help like customer Anne Dolan.

“Stealing is terrible anyway but to steal from a small business like that I said today I have to go in and buy something and show them my support,” says Dolan.

“To see everybody just coming in and being so supportive is really heartwarming and makes me feel really good so it has turned it all around for sure,” says Jackson.

Jackson doesn’t have cameras in her shop, but after what happened she says it would be a good idea to have one.
