Adult-use marijuana sales in Massachusetts have topped $3 billion since the launch of recreational stores in 2018, the Cannabis Control Commission announced Thursday.
Data reported by 216 cannabis retailers and 11 delivery businesses on May 14 showed that the state had reached $3,001,846,490 in gross sales since the first two retail stores opened on Nov. 20, 2018, according to the CCC.
“These sales figures illustrate the steady growth Massachusetts residents expected when they voted to legalize adult-use cannabis in 2016, and the Commission was appointed in 2017,” Commission Executive Director Shawn Collins said in a statement.
The CCC noted that marijuana retailers statewide racked up $5,986,186 in sales on April 20 alone.
The financial milestone comes less than a year after the CCC reported more than $2 billion in sales.
