BOSTON -- A Boston firefighter was among three people who suffered injuries after a blaze tore through a six-family home in Dorchester overnight, forcing nearly 20 people out into the street, officials said.
Crews responding to a report of a fire at a building on Whitman Street found flames showing from the second floor and scrambled into action to save a woman who was trapped, according to the Boston Fire Department.
The blaze quickly spread to the third floor of the building, but firefighters were able to contain it before it burned through the roof.
One firefighter and two residents were transported from the scene by Boston EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist 17 people who were displaced.
Officials believed the fire caused about $200,00 in damage to the building.
