Boston Calling update: Saturday headliner ‘The Strokes’ cancels appearance due to COVID case

BOSTON — The Boston Calling music festival kicked off three days of music over Memorial Day weekend on Friday and announced a change to the headliner scheduled to play on Saturday night.

The Strokes were scheduled to play on Saturday, but the band announced on Friday night that it had to “regretfully cancel“ due to a positive COVID case.

Boston Calling organizers now say Nine Inch Nails, who were the headliners on Friday night, will now play on Saturday too.

Nine Inch Nails were added to the Boston Calling lineup in April, after the sudden death of Foo Fighter’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins. Foo Fighters cancelled all upcoming tours after Hawkins’ death.

The weekend music festival is one of many holiday weekend events that could lead to some traffic delays in the area.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
