BROCKTON, Mass. — An Abington woman who was charged with abusing her two month old child that ultimately sent her to the ICU with a brain bleed pleaded not guilty in court today, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office announced.
34-year-old Jillian Timmons was charged with two counts of Assault and Battery on a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and one count of Reckless Endangerment of a Child. She was arraigned in Brockton District Court and will be held on $100,000 cash bail.
This comes following a two-week investigation launched by authorities after a member of the South Shore Hospital had reached out to them regarding suspected physical abuse on Timmons daughter after bringing her in for treatment.
The DA says that on July 17, Timmons daughter was brought in, and it was discovered that she had bruises on the left and right side of her face and a temperature of 93 degrees. She was then med flighted to Boston Children’s Hospital to be treated in the neonatal intensive care unit.
It appears that the child suffered serious brain bleeds that were at least several days old that were consistent to blunt force trauma.
“The injuries are believed to be so severe that the infant may never walk, speak, feed or care for themself,” the DA’s office wrote.
Timmons was taken into custody yesterday. Mass. State Police detectives obtained a search warrant and found her apartment. There, they seized evidence of an Apple iPad, Apple laptop, and a journal that Timmons kept of the infant.
Timmons, if she makes bail, is ordered to stay away and have no contact with the baby or the baby’s father. She is scheduled to be back in court on August 31st.
