A 21-year-old man was pronounced deceased after being extracted from a car found in a New Hampshire river Tuesday afternoon.

New Hampshire state troopers responded to the Androscoggin River, just south of the town of Errol, at 4:10 p.m. for a report of a vehicle in the water.

A dive team with New Hampshire Fish and Game was able to enter the water and remove the driver, Michael Marshall, of Littleton, New Hampshire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car, a blue 2000 Ford Mustang, registered out of Upton, Maine was found about 50 feet offshore and in 12-15 feet of water.

State Police believe Marshall was the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
