14-year-old girl in serious condition after being struck during crash in Chelsea parking lot

CHELSEA, Mass. — A 14-year-old girl is in serious condition after a car struck her during a crash in a Chelsea parking lot Sunday night.

A couple sitting in their car at Rise Dispensary on Beacham Street around 8:15 p.m. told Boston 25 News a black Mercedes drove through a fence, going up and over their parked car before striking the girl walking in the parking lot.

The teen girl was transported to Mass General Hospital for her serious injuries, Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton told Boston 25 News.

“I just heard a squealing of his tires. Before I knew it he was coming through the parking lot and up and over [our] car,” a witness told Boston 25 News. “He ended up over at the end of the parking lot.”

The operator of the careening vehicle is under police watch right now at a local hospital and will face charges, police say.

The incident is under active investigation.
