CHELMSFORD, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened early Friday morning in Chelmsford.
The MSP told Boston 25 News the crash happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Route 495 northbound in Chelmsford Friday. Troopers responded to a crash involving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that had been struck by a tractor-trailer, police say.
First responders say they located the operator, Elmer Rivas, 48, of Worcester, who was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the tractor-trailer, a 39-year-old male from Amherst, Nova Scotia, advised of no injuries at the time, according to police.
The operator of the tractor-trailer explained to police that Rivas was traveling in the left lane and tried to take the exit cutting off the truck.
The exact circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. No further details are available at this time.
