Local food truck gets big surprise when hired to work a Rhode Island wedding

NORWOOD, Mass. — A local food truck owner got a big surprise when he showed up for an event and realized it was a celebrity wedding. He fed dozens of people at Jennifer Lawrence's wedding Saturday night in Newport.

That owner still isn't sure what to make of his brush with celebrity. Saturday was a long day for the owner of Boston's Baddest Burger food truck.

The Norwood-based truck was at a brewery all day and then was hired to work a wedding in Newport.

"We got done there at 7:30 and we drove to Newport, and when I pulled up there was paparazzi everywhere," said Kevin Tortorella, the owner of the truck. "I'm like, 'what's going on here?'"

He was booked for the wedding at Belcourt Castle through a third-party company out of LA. He didn't know until he got there that he was about to serve a late-night menu to dozens of celebrity guests of Jennifer Lawrence and her new husband, Cooke Maroney.

"When I got this event, I had no idea who it was for or any of the background," Tortorella said.

The menu had just five items: his signature burger named 'The Hub,' a chicken sandwich, a hot dog, a veggie burger, and some fries – all served just after midnight.

"Sincerely all I do is work, so I contacted my wife, and she was like spellbound over the phone because she was telling me who the wedding was for and who this person is and who the folks are," he said.

"If I knew I might not have been able to focus on what I was doing and getting the food out."

The owner says he doesn't think he saw the bride or groom, but again, before the wedding, he had no idea who Jennifer Lawrence was.
