Local actor, brother of Boston fire official dies after being pulled from water

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A local actor and brother of a Boston fire official died Wednesday after being pulled from the water in Southie just over a week ago.

Sean Malone was pulled from the L Street Beach in South Boston about 9 days ago by emergency responders. He was alive when transported to the hospital, but the 54-year-old didn't make it. He passed away at about 8 p.m.

He was reportedly in the water far past a line that marks where swimmers are supposed to stop. Malone was so far out that rescuers had to utilize a boat to bring him in.

The Boston Fire Department tweeted Wednesday evening that "his family would like to thank the dedicated staff at BMC, Boston EMS, those that rescued Sean and friends for their support."
