6 arrested after Jaylen Brown, Desiigner event at CambridgeSide Galleria

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Police say six young people were arrested Monday after chaos erupted at a celebrity meet and greet.

There were more than 1,000 people at the CambridgeSide Galleria for an event featuring a musician and a Celtics player. Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown and rapper Desiigner were scheduled at the Champs sporting goods store from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Police say tickets were sold for the event, but it was disrupted when a large group of attendees surged forward and knocked down barriers and individuals waiting in line.

"My shoes and my body got trampled over, too. It was ridiculous. I had to hold on to my little brother to make sure he was OK,” Vunnie Thou said.

Cambridge police called for assistance with crowd control from state police, MIT police, Harvard police, Somerville police, and Everett police.

According to the Cambridge Police Department, people in the crowd threw glass, bricks and other objects at officers, although no injuries were reported.

"Then all of a sudden everyone just ran out trash cans flipped over and stuff like that. We had to hide in H&M,” Thou said.

Police said they did use pepper spray, and several attendees were treated for exposure.

Cambridge police said they have arrested six juveniles for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and trespassing.
