IMAGES: Nearly 70 dogs rescued from Westminster home

WESTMINSTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Animal rescue workers were working hard on Monday to take care of dozens of dogs and a few goats found at a home in Westminster, where they were discovered in very poor condition.

Neighbors in the area said they had been complaining for years about the nonstop barking coming from the home. Nearly 70 dogs were removed. According to the MSPCA, some were living in filthy conditions, while others were stuck outside in the cold.

Police, animal control and the MSPCA arrived at 21 Harrington Rd. in Westminster.

FOX 25 cameras captured workers removing two goats from the property, but that wasn't the main issue at the rural home.

The family that lives at the home breeds miniature dachshunds. Officials found 69 dogs on the property there Monday.

An investigation has been launched.

The home also has a kennel attached to it. The home's owners advertised the dogs for sale on a website called Shirls Whispering Winds. They claim to be the best miniature dachshund breeders in all of Massachusetts.

The dogs were taken to the Wachusett Animal Hospital for cleaning and observation.

At least two children live at the home. Westminster police confirmed they alerted the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families about the living conditions.

The Massachusetts Department of Agriculture is also involved.

The MSPCA will take custody of the animals on Tuesday.
